Take a Midweek Break with Brown Bag Concerts! Step away from the busyness and enjoy a Fall Fun Break each Wednesday in October at the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council’s free outdoor Brown Bag Concert Series. Join us at Palace Park (220 DeSiard Street, beside the old Palace Department Store) for live music from some of our region’s best musicians. Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair, soak up the sunshine and cooler fall breezes, and let us treat you to a noontime mini-concert. Pack your own lunch or pick up a $6 box lunch (with tea) from Newk’s Eatery, available on site. And don’t miss the free cookies from Mulhearn’s - the perfect sweet treat! Concerts are free and open to the public thanks to the support of Mulhearn’s, Newk’s Eatery, ECHO Development, Paramount Healthcare Consultants of West Monroe, State Representative Michael Echols, and the City of Monroe. Who's playing? Jennifer McMullen! Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jennifer McMullen brings her variety acoustic set to the Series today, showing off her mellow alto and stylistic versatility with pop, country, folk, Gospel and more. This solo artist performs at venues in Texas and across the South, but on occasion has provided backing vocals for others including the late, great artists R&B legend Percy Sledge and Grammy-award winner Jody Miller (“Wayfaring Stranger”). Today will be her debut at the Series, so come give her a warm Louisiana welcome as we kick back and enjoy the show!
