Artist Statement

brooke cassady is an interdisciplinary artist working with ceramics, fibers, metals, and repurposed objects. These forms -- permanent or ephemeral -- show cycles of life by engaging with the elements of earth, air, fire, and water. Delicate fragments of porcelain hint at the fragility of life and impermanence. “I am interested in referencing the body as a vessel, as a container of complex emotions and sensations, and as a vehicle for expression and connection. I also use raw clay and social sculpture to connect with others and navigate self-awareness. Through object making and exploring the space between, brooke's work references the interconnectedness of living matter and the collective consciousness.
